Karri Karrak Junior Ranger team

On Saturday 24 May, triple j’s One Night Stand will return to WA after nearly a decade and touch down in Barnard Park, Busselton.

As Traditional Custodians of Wardandi Boodja (Country), the Karri Karrak Aboriginal Corporation is pleased to host the live rock event for everyone in the community.

Karri Karrak Aboriginal Corporation Board member, Chontarle Bellottie, said:

“One Night Stand will bring us all together – Wardandi Noongar people, the Busselton community and people from around Australia. We want to share the beauty of our Wardandi Boodja with everyone, show how caring for Country benefits all of us. When the Boodja, the land and wardan, the sea, is healthy then we are all healthy.”

Karri Karrak Aboriginal Corporation will benefit from One Night Stand ticket sales supporting its Junior Ranger program. This important program supports native species monitoring programs, adaptive management regimes, scientific surveys, and bushfire management. In turn, this helps safeguard cultural heritage sites populations of protected flora and fauna, their associated habitats, and human populations in the South West region.

On a community level, the program increases capacity for Custodianship activity, on-Country knowledge transfers, Noongar education and leadership, and supports pathways for land management careers for Noongar people. Mrs Bellottie also said:

“We are so proud to showcase how we care for Noongar Boodja, ensuring both our Country and our members thrive together.

This event will draw national attention to our intergenerational work — how our young rangers are learning from their Elders and Knowledge Holders to protect and manage our Country.

Our deep connections to Boodja and wardan link this place to the rest of Australia. We are excited to welcome you to Country and ensure you return home safely.”
