Lands and Heritage Manager

The Karri Karrak Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Lands and Heritage Manager.

Support the strategic management and use of land assets to create opportunities to enable Traditional Owner care of Country.

Key details of the position are:

  • Full time position, fixed term contract (3 years).

  • Annual salary $119,100 plus FBT packaging and superannuation.

  • Based in Busselton.

  • You will:

    1. Provide advice and guidance to Board and CAC in relation to all land selection.

    2. Facilitate the leasing of Cultural Land from the Noongar Boodja Trust.

    3. Develop reserve management plans.

    4. Provide advice on and facilitate the leasing and licencing of Cultural Land to third parties.

    5. Develop and implement a strategic lands plan and source Federal and State government funding.

    6. Facilitate the establishment of Land Management Teams including identifying funding sources.

    7. Facilitate additional land management resourcing.

    8. Establish strong partnerships and relationships with stakeholders to develop economic initiatives and private enterprise opportunities for Noongar people.

    9. Oversee the implementation of the Land Management System.

    10. Oversee the implementation of the Indigenous Land Use Agreement and ensure compliance.

    11. Ensure the Corporation meets all land related obligations and maximise opportunities for the social, cultural, and economic benefit of Noongar people.

    Requirements

    1. High level of IT skills in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

    2. Previous experience in a similar role such as Land Management.

    3. Demonstrated understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage legislation.

    4. Demonstrated experience in developing asset management plans, designing, and implementing strategic business plans and budgets.

    5. Significant demonstrated experience leading and managing large, multiple, complicated projects in a land administration environment.

    6. Demonstrated experience in making decisions in complex and challenging circumstances, with the ability to negotiate outcomes and deliver on priorities.

    7. Demonstrated experience in communicating and influencing others, building, and maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Aboriginal people, industry, and other Government agencies.

    8. Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in a cross-cultural context.

    9. Current drivers’ licence.
